Health authorities intensify dengue prevention in Islamabad and Doda
Health authorities in Islamabad and the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir are intensifying efforts to combat rising dengue fever risks through surveillance and mosquito control measures.
In Islamabad, the district administration and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) have increased inspections of hospitals to ensure the availability of essential medicines, oxygen, and diagnostic kits. Approximately 300 field personnel are conducting surveillance in urban areas, while over 600 are deployed in rural regions to monitor mosquito breeding sites. The CDA reported that the situation in the federal capital remained under control as of early September 2026.
In the Doda district, 52 patients have been admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital due to a rise in cases. Local municipal committees have launched a special drive involving anti-larval spraying, fogging, and door-to-door inspections. Officials have identified and destroyed nearly 239 breeding sites in residential and commercial areas. Authorities have warned that penalties may be imposed on establishments where breeding sites are repeatedly found and have issued advisories for vulnerable populations, including senior citizens and those with comorbidities, to seek immediate medical attention.
