Health authorities issue recalls for contaminated food and water in Chile and Peru
Health authorities in Chile and Peru have issued sanitary alerts following the detection of harmful bacteria in food and beverage products.
In Chile, the Ministry of Health ordered the immediate withdrawal of Matthei brand sliced cheese (250g format, batch 2262907 AM, production date 31-08-2026, expiration 01-03-2027) after routine inspections confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. The authority warned that the bacteria poses severe risks to pregnant women, elderly individuals, and immunocompromised people.
In Peru, the Ministry of Health, through Digesa, ordered the immobilization and market withdrawal of all presentations and batches of Timonel and Lybre brand bottled water. Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a microorganism that can cause gastrointestinal infections, respiratory issues, skin irritation, and urinary tract discomfort, particularly in vulnerable populations.
