Health authorities launch dengue prevention campaigns in Bolivia and Argentina

Health authorities in Bolivia and Argentina are implementing preventive measures to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the vector for dengue, chikungunya, and other diseases.

In La Guardia, Santa Cruz, the Departmental Health Service (Sedes) has launched a larval entomological survey in Municipal District 4. Specialized brigades are inspecting homes and public areas to identify breeding sites and determine infestation indices. Manuel Cavallotti, head of the Departmental Dengue Control Program, stated that these results will guide future prevention and control interventions.

In Buenos Aires, the city government has entered the second stage of its prevention campaign, titled ‘Sacá al mosquito de tu casa’ (Get the mosquito out of your house). Running from October to December, this phase focuses on eliminating breeding sites as temperatures rise, which increases the risk of mosquito eggs hatching. While local virus circulation has not yet been reported, the campaign aims to reduce the mosquito population through container removal and continued vaccination for priority groups.
