Health experts warn of vascular and migraine impacts
Medical experts are highlighting the importance of recognizing the physical and lifestyle impacts of various health conditions. Regarding vascular health, specialists warn that high summer temperatures can exacerbate varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency. Heat causes blood vessels to dilate, which can hinder blood return to the heart and lead to symptoms such as swelling, heaviness, nocturnal cramps, and skin changes. Experts note that sedentary habits, such as long periods of sitting during travel or work, can further worsen these symptoms by reducing the effectiveness of the calf muscle pump.
In a separate context, neurologists are emphasizing the need to measure the true burden of migraines. Rather than focusing solely on pain intensity, experts suggest using tools like the MIDAS questionnaire to evaluate how much the condition interferes with daily life, including work, study, and social activities. In Argentina, it is estimated that migraines affect approximately 1 in 10 people, with women representing 75% of cases.
