Global health initiatives promote cardiovascular disease prevention

Various health organizations and regional authorities are launching initiatives to promote cardiovascular health and disease prevention. In Spain, the Fundación Española del Corazón has introduced the ‘El Corazón Va Al Cole’ program to provide schools and families with resources for teaching healthy habits and CPR. Medical experts, including Dr. José María de la Torre, emphasize that over 50% of cardiovascular diseases are preventable through lifestyle changes such as managing diet, tobacco use, and physical activity.

In Panama, the Guna Yala Health Region conducted educational sessions for students to encourage healthy eating and early prevention. Similarly, the Ministry of Health in Paraguay has launched a campaign titled ‘¡Cuida tu corazón y vive más!’ to promote cardiovascular care through blood pressure screenings and awareness talks, specifically urging the avoidance of vaping and excessive alcohol consumption.

Other regional efforts include EsSalud in Ica, Peru, which is promoting organ donation awareness, and the rise of the ‘6-6-6 walking’ method, a low-impact exercise routine designed to improve cognitive function and heart health through consistent, structured movement.
