Cardiovascular health and emergency training initiatives
Overview
Public health organizations in Spain, the Dominican Republic, Argentina, and other regions continue to expand initiatives focused on cardiovascular health and emergency response training.
In Spain, the Fundación Española del Corazón’s ‘El Corazón Va Al Cole’ program provides resources to schools and families to promote healthy habits and cardiac arrest response. Recent training efforts in Santa Cruz de Tenerife included CPR instruction for 200 athletes, while in A Coruña, the Red Cross organized a mass CPR participation event involving 371 students.
In the Dominican Republic, efforts include ARS Reservas hosting its second annual health fair to promote wellness through medical services and digital transformation, and the Dominican Society of Family and Community Medicine (SODOMEFyC) holding its XV International Congress in Punta Cana to advocate for effective primary care. The Dominican Association of Reproductive Medicine (ADOMERE) also conducted scientific training regarding estradiol.
In Argentina, municipal authorities continue conducting CPR and first aid workshops for secondary school students and staff. Emergency preparedness efforts have also expanded in Mexico, where Querétaro marked the tenth anniversary of its prehospital care program, and Saltillo conducted 329 civil protection drills involving 30,000 participants. Additionally, the Plan de Ayala elementary school in Mexico participated in a national civil protection drill to strengthen earthquake evacuation protocols.
Other regional efforts include the Guna Yala Health Region in Panama conducting educational sessions for students, and the Paraguayan Ministry of Health launching the ‘¡Cuida tu corazón y vive más!’ campaign to promote blood pressure screenings and awareness regarding vaping and alcohol consumption.
