Health initiatives in Colombia and Mexico promote organ donation

Health authorities in Colombia and Mexico are organizing community events to promote organ and tissue donation awareness.

In Chiquinquirá, Colombia, the ESE Hospital Regional organized the ‘Corre con el Corazón’ recreational race. The event drew approximately 850 to 950 participants of various ages to promote healthy lifestyles and discuss the importance of expressing the will to be a donor to family members. The hospital serves as part of a regional donation and transplant network.

In Chihuahua, Mexico, the Secretaría de Salud has announced the ‘Por Amor a la Vida 2026’ 4K recreational walk scheduled for September 19. Held in commemoration of National Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplant Day, the event aims to sensitize the public about donation and includes health workshops, such as CPR training and a health fair.
