Health initiatives in Italy focus on cancer awareness and senior wellness
The XIV edition of the Make Sense Campaign, a European initiative for head and neck cancer awareness, will take place from September 21 to 26, 2026. Promoted in Italy by the AIOCC, the campaign emphasizes the '1 symptom for 3 weeks' rule to encourage early medical consultation for persistent issues such as tongue pain, non-healing ulcers, or persistent hoarseness. Over 160 centers in Italy will offer free early diagnosis days.
In Monza, the 'Formula 100' project is offering free multidimensional screenings for individuals over 65 to promote active aging. Conducted by geriatric researchers from the University of Milano-Bicocca, these 15-minute assessments evaluate motor functions, cognitive abilities, vision, hearing, nutritional status, and psychological well-being. Participants identified with deficits can access more in-depth evaluations and individualized care plans.
