Health Prevention Drives Expand Across Italy with Red Cross and Komen Italia

The Italian Red Cross, in partnership with Rai Radio 1, held the second edition of the “Vivere progetto benessere” event on 12 June at Rome’s Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone. The day-long programme offered free medical screenings – including eye, hearing, cardiac, dermatological and vaccination checks – and wellness activities such as yoga, meditation, dance and self‑defence, aiming to promote healthy lifestyles and early detection.

Separately, Komen Italia's Emilia‑Romagna committee, together with CNA Impresa, launched a series of free, itinerant women’s oncology‑prevention meetings beginning 16 June in Ozzano dell’Emilia and continuing across several towns. Guided by gynaecologist Carla Calanchini, the sessions stress age‑specific screening strategies and reported that, in Bologna, eight out of ten women undergo screening, cutting mortality by 56 %.

Both initiatives reflect a coordinated push to raise public awareness of preventive health care throughout Italy.
