Health studies link ultra-processed foods and alcohol to increased disease risks

Recent scientific studies have highlighted significant health risks associated with alcohol consumption and ultra-processed foods.

A large-scale study by the American College of Cardiology, analyzing data from over 340,000 adults via the UK Biobank, suggests that while excessive alcohol consumption is linked to poor health regardless of the type, lower levels of consumption may show varying health outcomes depending on whether the beverage is wine, beer, cider, or spirits.

Separately, research from Florida Atlantic University published in The American Journal of Medicine indicates a link between ultra-processed foods and increased prostate cancer risk in men. The study, which analyzed data from over 17,000 men through the NHANES survey, suggests that high intake of foods containing refined fats, sugars, and additives may contribute to cancer through metabolic disruption, inflammation, and changes to the gut microbiome.
