Health union boycotts meeting with Casablanca-Settat health group director

The National Health University, affiliated with the Moroccan Labor Union in the Casablanca-Settat region, has decided to boycott a meeting called by the newly appointed Director General of the Territorial Health Group. The meeting, scheduled for August 28, 2026, was intended to discuss the implementation of legal provisions for establishing territorial health groups and the institutionalization of regional social dialogue.

The union cited several organizational grievances for its decision, including the insufficient notice period—less than two days—which they claim does not allow for adequate preparation of their position. Additionally, the union criticized the decision to limit their representation to a single individual, noting that the composition of a union delegation is an internal organizational matter. They also reported a lack of a detailed agenda.

Despite the boycott, the union emphasized that it does not reject dialogue with the regional health administration. They expressed readiness to participate in serious and responsible social dialogue to support the national health system reform, provided that established norms, mutual respect, and prior consultation are observed to protect the rights and working conditions of health workers.
