Healthcare access and regional inequality spark debate in Italy

In Senigallia, the Citizen Committee is calling for mobilization to defend the local hospital. The group highlights issues such as excessive waiting lists and the inability to book exams according to medical priorities. They express concern over a trend where patients, unable to access the national health service, are forced into private practice or left without care entirely. The committee is seeking to collect citizen feedback to present urgent needs to local institutions.

In Reggio Calabria, MEP Nicola Zingaretti and by-election candidate Frank Benedetto visited the Arghillà proximity health center. Zingaretti emphasized the need for localized healthcare services to combat regional inequalities, specifically criticizing policies like differentiated autonomy. Benedetto pledged to prioritize the right to healthcare and local representation in Parliament to ensure citizens do not have to travel long distances for medical needs.
