Healthcare benefits and free screenings available in Poland
Health services and benefits in Poland are being highlighted through new screening opportunities and medication policies. The ‘Moje Zdrowie’ program allows individuals aged 20 and older with NFZ insurance to access free health examinations. Participants can register via the Internet Patient Account (IKP), the ‘moje IKP’ mobile app, or at specific primary care clinics in Brzesko. The basic package includes blood morphology, glucose levels, a lipid profile, creatinine levels, TSH, and urine analysis. Depending on age and questionnaire results, additional tests such as liver function tests, PSA for men over 50, or fecal occult blood tests may be provided.
Additionally, seniors aged 65 and older can access free medications from a list of nearly 3,800 items, including treatments for hypertension and various vaccines. To ensure these medications are free, the prescription must be correctly marked with the ‘S’ code. While automated systems are increasingly verifying age via PESEL numbers to reduce manual errors, patients must ensure the prescription is issued for the specific medical condition for which the drug is reimbursed to avoid full costs.
