Preventive healthcare initiatives in Poland

Overview

Poland is implementing various preventive healthcare initiatives and medical benefits. As part of the ‘Healthy Lungs for Life’ campaign, Polish Spirometry Day is scheduled for September 30, 2026, across ten cities. This initiative provides free, non-invasive spirometry testing at National Health Fund (NFZ) locations to help detect asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), particularly for smokers and individuals over 40.

In conjunction with these efforts, the ‘Moje Zdrowie’ program offers free health examinations to insured individuals aged 20 and older, covering blood morphology, glucose, and lipid profiles. Furthermore, seniors aged 65 and older are eligible for free medications from a list of nearly 3,800 items, including vaccines and hypertension treatments, provided prescriptions are correctly marked with the ‘S’ code.
