Healthcare initiatives and professional monitoring underway in Alentejo
Healthcare professionals in the Alentejo region of Portugal are engaging in various initiatives to improve service delivery and professional standards. The Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ) recently held a meeting in Évora to review the results of the ‘Programa Cuida-te’. This program, which operated between May 2025 and July 2026, focuses on health prevention, promotion, and empowering youth to adopt healthy lifestyles.
Simultaneously, the Ordem dos Enfermeiros (Order of Nurses) is conducting monitoring visits to the Unidade Local de Saúde do Alentejo Central (ULSAC) on August 11 and 12, 2026. The visits include inspections of operating rooms, emergency services, and urgent care units in locations such as Montemor-o-Novo, Estremoz, and Vendas Novas. The goal of these visits is to assess professional working conditions, defend nurses' rights, and ensure the quality and safety of nursing care provided to the population.
