Healthcare professionals in Cuba receive honors in Las Tunas and Camagüey
Healthcare professionals in Cuba were honored during ceremonies in Las Tunas and Camagüey as part of celebrations marking the upcoming centenary of Fidel Castro.
In Las Tunas, at the Ernesto Guevara de la Serna Provincial Hospital, medical workers were recognized with the ‘Jóvenes del Centenario’ distinction. The event included the presentation of specialist titles to 20 professionals in fields such as Ophthalmology, Endocrinology, and Nephrology. Additionally, four doctors were inducted into the Union of Communist Youth.
In Camagüey, the Ministry of Public Health presented several high-level distinctions. The ‘Manuel Piti Fajardo’ award was given to 32 workers for their long-term service in training and assistance. Dr. Rolando Rodríguez Pugarec received the ‘Juan Tomás Roig’ distinction for his scientific research, which includes over 160 publications. Furthermore, 15 professionals received the ‘Internationalist Worker Medal’ for providing medical services in 34 different countries, and three nurses were recognized for over 50 years of service.
