The initiative aims to reduce waiting lists by identifying procedures that can be handled at different levels of care and ensuring patients requiring specialized intervention are efficiently referred to medium-complexity hospitals. This coordination seeks to prevent unnecessary delays and avoid saturating the hospital system.

In Trujillo, Peru, the Hospital Belén conducted its first pediatric cardiovascular surgery campaign. Four children with high-risk congenital heart disease, including a two-month-old infant, underwent complex operations. The campaign involved specialists from the Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño de Breña in Lima, allowing local families to access life-saving treatment without the need to travel to the capital.
