Healthcare services expand to meet summer tourism demand

Healthcare services in several Adriatic regions are seeing increased demand due to summer tourism. In Tomislavgrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the local health center has reported a significant rise in workload. During one week in August, the emergency medical service recorded 410 patients, including 12 field interventions and 9 hospitalizations.

In Croatia, the Zadar County Health Center is expanding its reach by introducing a second mobile medical unit. This unit will serve the islands of Vir and Pag to alleviate pressure on existing facilities caused by the influx of tourists. The initiative, supported by the Croatian government and Ministry of Health, aims to ensure equitable access to medical care for residents and visitors in rural and island locations.
