Healthcare updates in Italy: New transfusion schedules and medical retirement

The transfusion service at the Frangipane-Bellizzi Hospital in Ariano Irpino will implement a new organizational structure starting September 1, 2026. Developed in agreement with donor associations, the new schedule aims to improve efficiency for both blood donations and outpatient services.

Blood donations will be available on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 8:30 to 11:30. Outpatient services include therapeutic bloodletting on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 11:30 to 12:30, and follow-up visits for hemocoagulation and thrombin time on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 to 13:30.

In Tuscany, Dr. Lia Pierami is retiring from public health service on September 1, 2026. After a career spanning several decades, including roles at the Castelnuovo di Garfagnana hospital and leadership positions in addiction services and multidimensional evaluation units, she concludes her service within the Valle del Serchio district.
