Healthcare workers in Honduras pursue labor and salary demands

Healthcare workers in Honduras are pursuing various labor and salary demands. The Colegio Médico de Honduras (CMH) has called for a national extraordinary assembly on September 25 to address several grievances. Key demands include an end to dismissals, the reinstatement of separated professionals, and the centralization of decentralized health networks. The CMH is also seeking salary adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index (IPC), the fulfillment of 2026 biennial payments, and the payment of outstanding wages and bonuses for retired doctors.

In a separate development, the Asociación Nacional de Enfermeras y Enfermeros Auxiliares de Honduras (ANEEAH) has canceled a planned strike following agreements reached with the Ministry of Health. The agreement includes the payment of occupational risk bonuses by September 30 and the establishment of timelines to address outstanding debts. Additionally, the parties agreed to the appointment of more than 400 auxiliary nurses, effective January 2, 2027, with the selection process to be finalized by the end of 2026.
