Heat advisories issued for Colorado and Long Island

Multiple regions in the United States are facing heat advisories. In Colorado, Lamar and Prowers County are expecting highs near 106 degrees Fahrenheit on Saturday and Sunday. The National Weather Service in Pueblo noted that the heat is part of a hot spell that could see triple-digit temperatures continuing into the middle of next week. Additionally, the far eastern plains face elevated fire danger and a risk of dry lightning.

On Long Island, a heat advisory has been issued for Suffolk and Nassau counties. Heat index values are expected to reach as high as 100 degrees on Sunday. While temperatures are expected to remain above normal, humidity may decrease early next week as drier air moves in.
