Heat and rain surge across Veracruz state
The Mexican weather service issued a detailed forecast for Veracruz, warning of high temperatures and strong humidity throughout the week. In the Costa and South region, Minatitlán is expected to reach a maximum of 33.9 °C on Monday with 1.9 mm of rain, rising to 34.1 °C and 5.9 mm on Tuesday, and a heavy shower of 14.8 mm on Wednesday. Coastal cities such as Coatzacoalcos and Boca del Río will see highs above 31 °C with rainfall ranging from 3.5 mm to 4.1 mm.
Further inland, the northern Huasteca zone will experience temperatures near 34 °C and rainfall between 9 and 12 mm. Areas like Poza Rica and Tuxpan will also see persistent showers, with daily totals up to 9.6 mm. Agricultural zones, including the sugarcane fields of Tezonapa and citrus groves in Martínez de la Torre, are set to receive needed moisture amid the scorching heat.
Overall, the forecast calls for daily highs between 31 °C and 35 °C across the state, combined with frequent rainstorms that could affect travel, outdoor work, and local tourism.
