Heat, rain and strong winds hit Mexico's Quintana Roo and Chihuahua states

The state of Quintana Roo on the Yucatán Peninsula is expected to experience temperatures up to 37 °C with heat indexes reaching 40 °C, intermittent heavy showers, electrical activity and wind gusts of 40‑60 km/h. Waves along the coast are forecast at 1‑2 m, prompting cautions for small vessels and tourist operators. A tropical wave off Nicaragua is moving westward, though no active cyclone is present. In the northern state of Chihuahua, a subtropical jet stream and Pacific moisture are set to bring moderate‑to‑strong rain across much of the state, with gusts exceeding 55 km/h in several municipalities. Temperatures in the city of Chihuahua are forecast around 35 °C, while higher peaks such as Juárez have recorded up to 38.7 °C.
