Heat warnings issued in Haiti and France amid extreme temperatures
Haiti's National Hydro-Meteorological Unit warned of hot, dusty conditions with temperatures reaching 33 °C‑37 °C and advised the public to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity, wear light clothing and use masks against sand‑laden air. Isolated evening showers were also possible in several departments.
In France's Charente‑Maritime department, Meteo France placed the area under orange vigilance as temperatures are expected to peak at 38 °C. Authorities warned of a high forest‑fire risk, prohibiting smoking and open fires within 200 m of fire‑prone zones, and adjusted waste‑collection hours. Residents were urged to drink water regularly, avoid the midday heat and check on vulnerable neighbours.
