Heat wave drives heat advisories across Alabama and Memphis

A heat advisory is expected to cover the upcoming work week as heat index values approach or exceed 100°F in parts of the southern United States. In Alabama, air temperatures on Sunday will be in the low 90s but feel like the hundreds, with limited rainfall through Monday and scattered showers returning by Tuesday. An isolated storm is also possible on Tuesday.

In the Memphis area, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Sunday, forecasting mid‑to‑upper 90s temperatures and heat indices as high as 107. Meteorologists advise staying hydrated, wearing loose clothing, taking frequent breaks, and checking on vulnerable individuals such as the elderly.

Both regions are urged to take precautions against the dangerous heat that is expected to persist through at least the middle of the week.
