Heat wave drives temperatures above 30°C in Sicily and Sardinia

Across southern Italy, a heat wave is bringing unusually high temperatures. In Sicily, the regional forecast predicts clear skies and daytime highs ranging from 30 °C to 35 °C in provinces such as Palermo, Catania and Messina, with night lows staying around 20 °C.

In Sardinia’s Oristano province, the civil protection agency has issued a heat‑alert warning, noting maximum surface temperatures frequently exceeding 34 °C and locally reaching 37–40 °C. Nighttime lows are expected to remain above 20 °C, creating the first “tropical nights” of the season. Residents, especially the elderly, children and outdoor workers, are advised to avoid the hottest hours of the day and take protective measures against heat exposure.
