Heat wave forces cancellation of summer festivals in Wijchen and Vlijmen, NL

The Gevelconcert scheduled for Saturday in Wijchen’s Horecastraatje was cancelled after organisers warned that forecast temperatures of 32‑35 °C posed health risks for musicians performing on roofs and balconies, including heat‑related fainting and falls. The event, set to mark its 21st edition, may be rescheduled for the last Saturday of August pending venue and performer availability.

In Vlijmen, the Park Festival slated for Sunday was also called off. Organisers cited recent adverse weather and an unreliable forecast that led several participants to withdraw, making the festival untenable. The related "Taal in Beeld" exhibition will instead run from 6 July for a week in three Heusden libraries, while the Safety Market on the town square proceeds as planned.
