In southeastern Turkey, Diyarbakır experienced daytime highs above 40 °C. The extreme heat left streets empty and reduced customer flow, leading many merchants to postpone opening until mid‑afternoon. Shop owners such as Kenan Aksu and Hülya Körken said business now picks up only after 15:00, and they called for additional government support to help small businesses survive the prolonged heat spell.
