Heated tobacco use linked to 1.6x higher diabetes risk

A research group from the National Institute for Health Crisis Management (JIHS), led by Tetsuya Mizoue and visiting researcher Huan Hu, has released findings regarding the link between heated tobacco products and diabetes.

Following a 4.8-year tracking study of approximately 29,000 non-diabetic workers, the research indicates that users of heated tobacco products face a 1.61 times higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes compared to non-smokers. The study also noted that those who use both heated tobacco and traditional cigarettes face a 1.76 times higher risk, while traditional cigarette smokers showed a 1.53 times higher risk.
