Heating fuel prices rise in Serbia and Croatia

As the heating season approaches, demand for fuel is rising across Serbia and Croatia, leading to increased costs for households. In Serbia, the price for a ton of A2 class pellets ranges from 42,000 to 48,000 dinars, with demand estimated to be 30% to 40% higher than last year. Wood fuel prices are also rising, and some regions, such as Čačak, are experiencing delivery delays of up to 25 days.

Experts, including Branko Glavonjić from the Faculty of Forestry, advise consumers to verify that pellets are certified to avoid combustion issues and quality problems. While producers and traders have indicated that further price hikes are unlikely, many consumers are seeking alternatives. In Croatia, pellet prices have risen by approximately 30% compared to last year, and wood fuel has increased by 10%. Some households are transitioning to heat pumps to mitigate long-term energy costs.
