Heatwave forces cancellation of several festivals in western France

On July 10‑11, 2026, French authorities placed the Loire‑Atlantique department on a red heat‑wave alert. Prefectural orders banning large gatherings led to the cancellation of the Zyc’ô remparts rock festival in Guérande, which was set for July 11 and expected to attract 3,000‑4,000 attendees. Organisers said the loss of advance payments represents a serious financial blow that could jeopardise the festival’s future.

The same alert also halted the Dub Camp reggae and dub festival in Joué‑sur‑Erdre, which had planned to welcome up to 10,000 fans per day for its 11th edition. Organisers estimate €1.8 million in costs, with roughly €1 million potentially covered by insurance, leaving a shortfall that may end the event. Other western‑France gatherings cancelled because of the heat include the Son Continu (Indre), the Chambord classical‑music closing night, Léz’Arts de Loire, Les Autres voies, and Le Pied de Nez.
