Heat wave grips Egypt and Morocco as temperatures top 45°C

Egypt’s national meteorological agency warned that the heat wave will continue through early July, with maximum temperatures reaching 43‑44°C in the south and felt temperatures climbing to 46°C in the Nile Delta and Cairo due to high humidity. The agency urged people to avoid direct sun exposure, stay hydrated and limit afternoon outdoor activity.

Morocco’s Directorate of Meteorology issued an orange‑level alert for a severe heat spell lasting from Saturday to Wednesday. Forecasts call for 43‑46°C in provinces such as Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Beni Mellal and Tarfaya, alongside wind gusts of 75‑85 km/h on the Atlantic coast. The service advised residents to take precautions against heat stress and strong winds.

In Yemen, the civil aviation weather centre predicted hot, humid conditions along the coast and in the highlands, with maximum temperatures of 37‑44°C and scattered thunderstorms in the eastern and western coastal zones. Fishermen and mariners were warned of rough seas and strong winds near the Bab al‑Mandeb and the Gulf of Aden.

A brief notice for Israel highlighted rising temperatures and recommended using shade and head coverings during midday hours. All four countries are experiencing unusually high heat and humidity, prompting health and safety advisories across the region.
