Heatwaves affect Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, and Morocco

Multiple regions across the Middle East and North Africa are experiencing significant heatwaves and high humidity.

In Lebanon, hot air masses from the Arabian Peninsula are causing temperatures to exceed seasonal averages, particularly in mountainous and inland areas, with effects expected to ease gradually starting Sunday.

Palestine and surrounding areas are facing intense heat, with temperatures projected to rise several degrees above annual averages through early next week. Meteorological departments have issued warnings against prolonged sun exposure during peak hours (11:00 AM to 4:00 PM), the risk of fires in dry grass areas, and leaving children or the elderly in closed vehicles.

Jordan is also seeing high temperatures, particularly in the Badia, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba regions, with further increases expected through Tuesday.

Morgan in North Africa reports mixed conditions; while the southeast and southern regions remain hot, other areas may see low clouds, fog, and light rain, with potential thunderstorms in the far southern Saharan provinces.
