Heatwaves sweep through France, Morocco, and Portugal

Multiple regions across Europe and North Africa are experiencing significant temperature increases due to shifting atmospheric patterns.

In France, the reinforcement of an anticyclone is bringing summer-like conditions. Temperatures are expected to rise, reaching up to 30°C in the south and exceeding 32°C in some areas early next week. This follows a recent period of cooler weather.

Morocco is facing extreme heat, with the Direction générale de la météorologie issuing an orange alert. Temperatures in several provinces are forecasted to reach between 40°C and 45°C.

Portugal is also seeing a heat spike driven by an African ridge and hot air from North Africa. Temperatures in mainland Portugal are expected to rise significantly, with some central and Alentejo regions potentially reaching 38°C. While most of the mainland remains dry, the Azores may experience light rain and cloudy skies.
