Heatwaves impact Tijuana-San Diego and Tamaulipas regions

Extreme heat is affecting border regions in both the United States and Mexico. In the Tijuana-San Diego region, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory effective from Tuesday morning through Thursday evening. Temperatures in San Diego County valleys, including La Mesa and Escondido, are expected to reach between 36°C and 38°C, while coastal areas may see highs up to 35°C.

In the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, temperatures are expected to be even higher, with Nuevo Laredo and Reynosa forecasted to reach 40°C. Ciudad Victoria is anticipated to hit 38°C. While much of the region faces intense heat, some areas in southern Tamaulipas, such as Tampico and Ciudad Madero, may experience cloud cover and a 60% chance of rain.

Authorities recommend that residents stay hydrated, seek air-conditioned environments, and limit outdoor activities, particularly for children, the elderly, and vulnerable populations.
