Heavy Rain and Flash Flood Risk Threatens Georgia and Southeast US

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for north and central Georgia, warning of scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds and a risk of flash flooding through Friday. Slow‑moving storms are expected to produce repeated downpours, with some areas potentially receiving one to two inches of rain in a short period.

The Weather Prediction Center has placed coastal South Carolina under a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall and both Carolinas under a Level 1 Excessive Rainfall outlook. Localized flash flooding is possible in Charleston and surrounding low‑lying areas, while gusty wind gusts may accompany isolated severe thunderstorms across the region. Similar rain and wind threats extend into parts of Georgia, Florida and the broader Southeast through the weekend.
