Heavy rain causes event cancellations in Guayaquil and disruptions in Mexico City

Heavy rainfall and related disruptions have impacted activities in Mexico City and Guayaquil.

In Mexico City, significant rain has been reported across several boroughs, including Xochimilco, Coyoacán, and Tlalpan. The weather has caused traffic delays and impacted public transport services, such as the Metrobús. Additionally, the city has experienced various road closures due to organized athletic races on Paseo de la Reforma and intermittent protests.

In Guayaquil, Ecuador, heavy rain and flooding on the pitch at the Estadio Modelo Alberto Spencer forced the cancellation of the final day of the Mamá de las Ferias 2026 music festival. The suspension affected scheduled performances by artists including Don Medardo y Sus Players, Tierra Canela, Papaya Dada, and Segundo Rosero. Organizers announced that ticket holders will be eligible for refunds.
