Heavy rain floods streets and homes across Guadalajara metropolitan area

On the afternoon of June 14, intense rainstorms moved over the Guadalajara Metropolitan Zone (ZMG), producing widespread flooding and water accumulation in several neighborhoods. Traffic was disrupted on major corridors, including Avenida López Mateos near Plaza del Sol and Bugambilias, Camino Real to Colima at José Guadalupe Gallo, as well as intersections on Periférico, Félix Rougier and Conchitas in Zapopan. Residents reported standing water that hindered vehicle movement and caused a sinkhole on López Mateos in Zapopan.

Civil‑Protection and fire‑fighter units assisted a driver whose car became trapped at the crossing of Avenida Colón and Calle 1. In the municipality of El Salto, the Las Pintitas area saw homes overtaken by water, a recurring problem during the rainy season. Authorities urged the public to avoid flooded routes, stay alert for fallen trees, and report emergencies to official numbers.
