Heavy monsoon rains hit West Bengal and Bangladesh late July
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast heavy to very heavy rain for several West Bengal districts on July 28, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30‑40 km/h. Coastal districts were warned of strong gusts (45‑60 km/h) and local port alerts were raised, with fishermen advised to stay near shore until conditions improve.
