Delhi Rohini Building Collapse Kills Four Amid Monsoon Rains
On the evening of 8 July 2026 a four‑storey under‑construction building in Sector 16, Rohini, northwest Delhi collapsed during heavy monsoon rain. The structure fell around 4:20 pm, crushing workers and trapping several labourers beneath the debris.
Rescue teams from the Delhi Police, Fire Service, National Disaster Response Force, Municipal Corporation of Delhi and other agencies launched an overnight operation. Five people were pulled from the rubble, including one survivor; three of those recovered were later declared dead, bringing the confirmed death toll to four. The collapse prompted an FIR and a police investigation into possible causes such as a weak pillar, ongoing plumbing work and unauthorized drilling of structural members.
The incident occurred amid a broader monsoon emergency that caused floods, landslides and additional building failures across several Indian states, prompting the central government to review disaster preparedness. Authorities continue to search for any remaining victims and assess the site for structural compliance.
