Heavy rain warnings issued for Kanto-Koshin and Tochigi regions
The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued warnings for the Kanto-Koshin region regarding the potential for warning-level heavy rain from the afternoon of the 9th through the early morning of the 10th. Highly unstable atmospheric conditions, caused by a pressure trough and moist air combined with rising daytime temperatures, are expected to trigger intense thunderstorms.
In the Kanto-Koshin region, 24-hour rainfall predictions reach up to 100mm in northern Kanto and 80mm in southern Kanto and the Koshin region. Residents are advised to prepare for flooding in low-lying areas, rising river levels, and potential landslides.
Specific warnings have also been issued for Tochigi Prefecture, where 24-hour rainfall is expected to reach 100mm. Authorities are cautioning against lightning, tornadoes, sudden gusts, and hail. Individuals are advised to seek shelter inside buildings if cumulonimbus clouds approach.
