Mexico faces widespread flooding and storms from tropical wave and monsoon

Severe weather systems, including the Mexican monsoon and Tropical Wave No. 37, are causing widespread heavy rainfall, electrical storms, and flooding across much of Mexico.

In the northwest, the monsoon is bringing intense rains to Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, and Chihuahua. In Sonora, heavy downpours in Ciudad Obregón have caused significant flooding, stranding vehicles and damaging local businesses.

In the southeast and Yucatán Peninsula, Tropical Wave No. 37 is triggering torrential rains. Mérida has experienced extreme weather events similar to major hurricanes, resulting in power outages, fallen trees, and flooded streets. High rainfall totals have been recorded in Kanasín and Temozón Norte.

Other regions, including Veracruz, Tamaulipas, Guanajuato, and Michoacán, are under alert for heavy rain, potential hail, and strong winds. Authorities have warned of rising river levels, landslides, and the risk of falling trees and advertising signs due to high wind gusts.
