Heavy rainfall causes flooding and infrastructure damage in Gwalior and Kanpur

Heavy rainfall has caused significant disruption and flooding in Gwalior, India, and Kanpur, Pakistan.

In Gwalior, continuous rain lasting approximately 12 hours has submerged major roads and low-lying areas. The flooding has hindered daily activities and slowed vehicular traffic, particularly affecting two-wheeler riders. Local authorities face challenges in draining water from residential areas as the weather remains unstable.

In Kanpur, intense rainfall has inundated over 50 major roads, turning areas like the airport parking lot into ponds. A significant incident occurred in the Jajmau area, where a section of VIP Road collapsed, creating an 18-foot deep crater due to soil weakening from underground drainage leaks. Additionally, fallen trees and power outages have further disrupted transportation and local services.
