Heavy rains cause flooding and power outages across Mexico

Heavy rainfall and strong winds have caused widespread disruption across several regions in Mexico, including the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area and the municipality of Salvador Alvarado.

In Guadalajara and Zapopan, residents reported fallen trees blocking major avenues, such as Avenida Pablo Neruda and Avenida Patria. The storms led to localized flooding, strong water currents on streets, and power outages. In Zapopan, a fallen tree near a transformer caused explosions, requiring intervention from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).

In Guamúchil, Salvador Alvarado, authorities noted that heavy rains washed trash into the drainage system, clogging storm drains and increasing the risk of flooding. Civil Protection officials have urged citizens to avoid littering to prevent further blockages, while public works teams work to clear debris and restore electrical services alongside the CFE.
