Sinaloa rains create road craters and damage infrastructure

Heavy rains over the past days have caused severe damage to the main roadways around Guasave, Sinaloa. Municipal public works identified roughly sixteen critical points where the pavement has collapsed, forming large craters along the Mexico‑15 highway and the approach to Sinaloa de Leyva. Crews are filling the depressions with base material and have requested state assistance to supply asphalt for more permanent repairs.

In the neighboring coastal towns of Guaymas and San Carlos, the same storm system toppled a tree onto a parked vehicle, damaged three electric transformers and left a house partially flooded. Authorities have conducted patrols of vulnerable areas, cleared fallen stones from a bypass road, and warned residents to avoid crossing streams as additional rain is expected throughout the weekend.
