Heavy rains hit Nashik district, India, with cloudburst warning and road closures

On July 7, 2026, parts of Nashik district in Maharashtra, India, experienced intense rainfall after a cloudburst warning. Talukas such as Nashik city, Trimbakeshwar, Igatpuri and Surgana received heavy downpours, raising the Godavari river to spate levels. The district administration deployed a State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team in Igatpuri and closed the Bhabadbari ghat in Deola taluka due to landslide risk. A temporary bridge on Pahine Bhilmal Road was washed away, and a kachcha road from Prayag Tirth to Talwade remained submerged. Water discharge from the Nandur‑Madhmeshwar weir was measured at 7,924 cusecs. Officials urged residents near riverbanks to relocate to safer areas, and the situation was reported as under control with no major rain‑related incidents so far.
