Heavy rains spur alerts across multiple Mexican states

Intense rainfall continues to affect large parts of Mexico, prompting civil protection authorities to issue alerts for dozens of municipalities. Forecasts call for strong thunderstorms, heavy downpours and high humidity, especially in Gulf‑coast and central‑southern regions.

States identified with the greatest risk include San Luis Potosí, Jalisco, Puebla, Tamaulipas, Veracruz and Chiapas, where significant water accumulations are expected. Other states such as Sonora, Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Durango, Nayarit, Michoacán, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Campeche, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Nuevo León, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Morelos and Quintana Roo are also forecast to see notable rain. Authorities warn of urban flooding, rising river levels and landslides, urging residents to stay informed, avoid unnecessary travel and refrain from crossing inundated areas.
