Weather alerts issued for heavy rain in Mexico and Venezuela

Multiple regions in Mexico and Venezuela are facing weather alerts due to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and potential flooding.

In Chihuahua, Mexico, the State Civil Protection Coordination issued a preventive alert for moderate to strong rains across much of the state. The forecast includes electrical activity, wind gusts up to 55 km/h, and possible hail, raising risks of sudden flooding and landslides in the Sierra Tarahumara region.

Mexico City has also activated emergency protocols. The Secretariat of Integral Water Management deployed personnel and machinery to manage flooding in several boroughs, including Iztapalapa and Iztacalco. A meteorological alert remains in effect for all 16 boroughs due to predicted rain, hail, and wind gusts of up to 50 km/h.

In Venezuela, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh) reported that tropical wave number 46 is interacting with the Intertropical Convergence Zone, increasing the likelihood of rain across various states, including Zulia, Bolívar, and the Andean region. Rainfall accumulations are expected to range between 3 and 50 mm.
