Hebron settlement plans approved for 567 new units
Israeli authorities have approved two settlement plans in the Hebron governorate of the West Bank, authorizing the construction of 567 new housing units. This move is part of an accelerating trend of settlement expansion in the region.
The approved plans include 342 units in the Asael settlement, located on lands belonging to the town of Samu, under plan number 525. Additionally, 225 units have been approved for the Beit Hagai settlement, situated on lands in the Al-Raiha area of Dura, under plan number 517/4.
The Wall and Settlement Against the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission stated that these approvals, moved to the authorization stage by the Planning Council on September 23, aim to formalize settlement sites and reshape Palestinian geography in the southern West Bank. The expansion is intended to link settlements through infrastructure and road networks, which local authorities warn undermines the possibility of a two-state solution.
