Helen Kevric wins uneven bars gold at European Championships

German gymnast Helen Kevric secured the gold medal on the uneven bars at the European Gymnastics Championships in Zagreb. This victory marks a significant comeback for the 18-year-old from Stuttgart, occurring approximately 15 months after she suffered a severe knee injury at the previous year's championships in Leipzig.

Kevric earned 14.500 points for her performance, becoming the first German uneven bars European champion since Elisabeth Seitz in 2022. Notably, Kevric is currently competing without a coach following controversies at the Stuttgart gymnastics center.

In the same competition, German gymnast Karina Schönmaier won the silver medal in the vault with an average score of 14.066, finishing behind Russia's Angelina Melnikova. The podium for the vault included Lisa Vaelen of Belgium in third place. The uneven bars competition saw Italy's Elisa Iorio take second place, followed by Giulia Perotti.
